Gainsborough Square

Max McClure | United Kingdom

Gainsborough Square is a public green in Lockleaze, Bristol. The Council is spending up to £2.5 million improving the square over the next few years.

To help build public awareness around the ambitions and needs of local residents a simple ramp and stage were constructed from straw bales, timber and rope. The placement of the project allowed the public to encounter it within the unfolding landscape works, raising awareness of the Council’s work in the area.

While photographing the ongoing works, I got to know some of the local youths, who were extremely keen to show me their best tricks and stunts. I loved how enthusiastic they were in showing me there playgorund, and how important it was to them that I captured their antics on camera.
