For centuries societies have built walls to shelter and keep out enemies, plagues and anything else that posed a threat to their way of life. Jerusalem remains that place and today, the great wall that is both physically and culturally present dominates the Israeli / Arab way of life. No where is this more apparent than in Jerusalem where the ancient walls still stand around the old city. But what is seldom seen is the new walls that divide a nation onto itself. What happens on either side of these walls? Is the story on both sides really being told?
"Two sides of the Wall" will be a continuing project for me. The few days that I spent in the West Bank talking to and living with the Palestinian people helped me better understand their story. A story that isn't being told to it's fullest. And if it is, who is listening.
