Two Rivers of Ōtautahi
Photographer: Joe Harrison
Exhibit Title: Two Rivers of Ōtautahi
Location: New Zealand
This long term project follows Ōtautahi/Christchurch's (New Zealand) two main rivers from their spring sources, through their urban catchments and finally out to the estuary where they both meet and flow out to sea. Along the way we encounter various people who interact with the Ōtākaro/Avon and Ōpāwaho/Heathcote rivers - from whitebaiters to rowers to a father and son removing trash. Using a combination of street and landscape photography, this project aims to explore the relationships between the people of Ōtautahi/Christchurch's and the rivers which run through their city.
