Julianne Snow Gauron is a Boston-based commercial and editorial photographer who spent a decade in the design industry before transitioning to her love, storytelling. She collaborates with agencies, nonprofits, foundations and other purpose-driven companies creating still photography and directing branded documentary short films to amplify clients’ work. Her work can also be found in various publications, adventure, women’s and travel in particular.
During her tenure as a designer, Julianne went to great lengths to understand end user’s needs. Immersed in research, she embedded in a nursing home for a year, worked with the U.S. Navy’s SEAL Team Six and shadowed Olympic athletes to gain insight into how to develop the best products for the end user. These skills carried over seamlessly to visual storytelling.
The branded documentary short, Dear Senator, which she directed with Windy Films for the client, Planned Parenthood, won the 2019 Adweek ARC Award in Brand Storytelling. She is a member of the Royal Society for the Arts, joining the prestigious ranks bringing the arts and science to societies most pressing issues. Julianne is a Reach the World Explorer (2020,) a photographer with the Share Winter Foundation, mentor at The MIT Legatum Center for Development and Entrepreneurship Center, and a member of the famed Explorer’s Club. She received her Master’s degree from the Rhode Island School of Design, where she also taught as adjunct faculty and was a member of the curriculum planning board. Her Bachelor’s degree is from Bowdoin College in Maine.
