Exhibit Title: Corona-Stricken New Year
Location: Iran
The Iranian people began their New Year as they witnessed the spread of coronavirus disease. Nowruz is the ancient Eid of Iran, which is celebrated on the first day of April. Before the beginning of Nowruz, people are busy shopping and buying new clothes and preparing Haft-Sine tableware. Haft-Sin is one of the most famous celebrations of Nowruz, gathering seven things that begin with the letter "S". As a photographer, I did this set of images in March 2020 as the prevalence of Corona-virus disease in Iran increased, with about 3,000 people dying of the disease. It is the scene in Iran, with the sensitive conditions of the outbreak of Corona disease and the presence of people in home quarantine, that the people hold their New Year's Eve celebrations and Haft-Sine table away from any relationships without travel and celebrations outside the houses. This celebration shows the value of this ancient celebration, even in times of crisis, and a testimony to signify the people's sense of happiness and health.
