The Road to Kampala

Dan Nelken | NY, Uganda

Ugandans conduct much of their daily commercial activities on the roadside. Influenced by cubistic spatial interplay I created diptychs to convey the vibrant energy and inertia of scenes where pictorial elements reappear or disappear in the blink of an eye. Expanding the "decisive moment" by separating two images by a white space signifies the actual andmetaphorical time elapsed between frames. Capturing the chaotic environment and the human interactions as people went about their daily routine, while trying to be inconspicuous with little success.
