In occasion of a solo travel across Europe in 2011/2012, I got the chance to listen and learn about different realities of women facing breastfeeding and the fact that they were expected to wean after the sixth month of the baby.

The Nurture & Care Project aims to create a space for visibility, awareness and discussion about the importance of accepting extended breastfeeding in public spaces, and the necessity of leaving prejudices behind, in spite the age of the baby.

This is a global need.

This is a long-term, non-profit and not subsidized project, launched in January 2015. The goal is to photograph in the five continents, women who breastfeed after 10 months, regardless of race, religion, nationality, social status. As I've done since the beginning.

Many women do not resign their right to breastfeed their children, although this would involve a social rejection. Many others resign, fighting against various views of criticism, censure, even within the most intimate family members.

Since 2015, more than 120 women from 11 different countries have been photographed for this project.

In the fight for women’s rights, the right to breastfeed is essential in terms of underlining our difference as gender and our power in that difference.
