In Turkish Roma community, a marriage ceremony with henna night, wedding and bride reception takes three days. bride being attractive and spectacular, dancing three days almost non-stop with traditional music, being tied to her waist the red belt of virginity and her dramatic farewell with her family embellishes this event.

In Izmir city by the sea, that allows immigrations from many places, live more than 10% of the Romanas. The majority of these people immigrated 85 years before, after the war between Turkey and Greece. A considerable amount of their population today lives in ghettos of İzmir. Unemployment, prosperity, lack of education and social security are their keystone problems. Even today, reclamation efforts in Turkey are deficient. In spite of all these difficult living conditions and negative aspects, marriage is utmost importance to Romas. Because of this, it takes the form of a parade, organized by families going under serious debts.
