Hospital Under Water!

Sanchayan Chowdhury | Bangladesh

The ambulance is stuck in the flood waters.

Chittagong Maa o Shishu Hospital is known for being flooded due to water logging during rainy season.  A moderate rainfall is enough to inundate the hospital main roads, emergency department and hospital ground floor. This ultimately results immense sufferings of hospital's physicians, staffs, and patients including their attendants. The unbearable condition is the when the patients particularly the old and child patients, or the ones with serious illness have to get down from vehicles half a kilometer away to reach the hospital. Almost every year due to climate change, Bangladesh has quite a high rate of precipitation. However, unfortunately, this scene has been constant for years after years.

I am Sanchayan Chowdhury(A.APS, HON.CPE). I was born in a rural place of Chattogram, Bangladesh. I had my MCA (Master of Computer Application) from Vidyasagar University, West Bengal, India in 2004. Currently I am working as software engineer in a private company, Chattogram, Bangladesh. Though I am professionally working as an engineer, I would like to see my future as a documentary photographer taking photographs of mostly rural and underprivileged people who keep fighting and struggling against poverty through hardships. I started to learn and practice photography since 2010. Currently, I am the life-member of Chattogram photographic Society. I served as Publicity and Publication Secretary of Chattogram Photographic Society in 2018-2019. I love to take documentary, festival and travel photos with a unique aesthetic styles of taking candid moments.
