Title: If a River Could Talk

Nawas Sharif | Bangladesh

Organization: Nawas Photography

Bangladesh is a densely-populated, low-lying, mainly riverine country located in South Asia with a coastline of 580 km (360 mi) on the northern littoral of the Bay of Bengal. The delta plain of the Ganges (Padma), Brahmaputra (Jamuna), and Meghna Rivers and their tributaries occupy 79 percent of the country.

As it is an agricultural country, its’ economy largely depends on it. For proper cultivation, rivers are playing a vital role. So, the importance of rivers can’t be ignored.

But sadly, rivers are dying in a remarkable number each year. Directly or indirectly, people are responsible for this. Though peoples are facilitated by rivers, they are not concerned about it.

I am Nawas Sharif, a freelance photographer from Bangladesh. I started my journey from 2016. I have presided NSTU Photography club for the session 2017-18. Now, I am working as a mentor for NSTU Photography club. There is no specific reason for taking pictures but the sheer love I have for nature gave me the push to showcase the beauties to the world. Therefore, I go out and search those exotic places where mankind can come close to nature and forget their busy lives.

My journey started from the top of and ambiguous region where the reindeer and other species would come to me with their stories but as time passed due to my restlessness and curiosity I had to come and see what the mankind is doing. Like any other new born child I am bubbling with life and so much courage that no rock in the stream can stop me. But little did I know I was so important in people’s lives. As I scurried through the lanes I could see people are feeling so happy. At the bank I could see the children being so delightful to swim in the water. Their laughter makes me peaceful as if there isn’t anything I want in my life. Like them I am carefree and just want to roam around all my life ferociously without what will happen in the future. That is the best time of my life. You can also see the romance between white couple swimming side by side in my water sharing their stories where the husband is mesmerized looking at his wife. Nevertheless being the most playful, fierce and courageous I overestimated by life goal. The water which is the soul of my fat body is drying up and the perfect indicator is the logs being shown with the algal bloom making me more stagnant. But can a small yucky algae stop me from fulfilling my life purpose of helping mankind of course the answer is no. So with my exhausted and dried up body I was trying to overcome the big villains of the movie who usually kidnaps the girl. But the rock which is nothing to me in my youth started to feel like massive hurdles to fight with and even though I had all the motivation but couldn’t win in the war. As big philosophers mentioned failures are opportunities to new starts such ideas made me wonder how I could help the mankind. An idea came to my mind where I felt like shredding most of my fat and letting my dried body be the pavement to their destination. But sadly that is the end to my life.
