Day 1

When I was diagnosed with breast cancer six years ago, I used photography to help me navigate the psychological and emotional landscape of being a patient, dealing with the existential thoughts and feelings of a cancer diagnosis, and reckoning with my fear for the future.

This series of sixty-six images chronicle every day I received radiation. 
I made two images each day, before and after radiation. This documentation became a forensic study of how I anticipated the radiation would change me.

Reflecting on the images, I realized I had created a "Reverse Rorschach" test, in which the images I chose to make, the ones that drew my attention, were indicative of my internal experience before and after a daily ritual that forced me to contemplate my own life and my own death simultaneously.
