Murui's tribe

Luis Barreto D | ANTIOQUIA, Colombia

Muruis families are almost self-suficient in terms of their alimentation, It relies mostly in fishing, hunting and farming but some other basic cooking ingredients need to be purchase in the nearest town (3-5 hours by boat). Hunting is only by permission of the eldest in the community and in very limited amounts in order to preserve and respect the nature.
Not following the rules may bring bad luck to the community.

My work consisted in a serious of photographs that document the life style of the community called 'Muruis', an indigenous tribe in the southern part of the Colombian Amazon who despite of all of the western or 'white people's influence, they still follow many of their traditions of their ancestors.
