Speaking with this protester, she told me she was experiencing so many emotions that crafting became her therapy—both for coping with the aggressive atmosphere in Minneapolis and for preparing herself for the protests. She laughed as she explained that she finally found a purpose for her giant googly eyes. Before we parted, she handed me one of the dozen “Fuck ICE” bracelets she had made to give away, each one helping to fortify her strength, and the strength of those she shared them with.

Location: MINNESOTA, United States
When Donald Trump sent 3,000 untrained thugs into the streets of Minneapolis, Minnesota, they were met by 345,000 socially minded Minneapolians and millions of other Minnesotans who show up for one another. When ICE agents began pulling people off the streets, the community responded with courage, creativity, and an unshakable sense of solidarity.
This exhibit highlights one of the many ways Minnesotans grounded themselves and prepared for protest: Craft Therapy. As 10,000 Minnesotans moved together through the streets, the scene looked surprisingly similar to the packed through fares of the Minnesota State Fair—otherwise, affectionately known as the Great Minnesota Get Together.
Together, their creativity was a grounding force and a celebration of their collective resilience.

It is difficult to live amid concentrated wealth and privilege and to know how deeply it is tied to harm.
But, the harmed are the strong. The harmed are the light of the world. And now, it seems that the harmed in Minnesota—the Star of the North—are illuminating the quotidian terrors of unjust and oppressive social systems. Minnesotans have risen above terror. They are the plural society the United States promised and they are not surrendering themselves to the tyrrany of Donald Trump's Operaton Metro Surge.
