Social Documentary Network (SDN) is firmly committed to respecting the privacy of the members and users of this website – www.socialdocumentary.net. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect on the site and how it is used and your rights as a site user.

Express Consent to Send You Email

By reading this Privacy Policy and checking the box confirming that you have read and agree to these policies, you have granted SDN Express Consent to send you email newsletters through our third party email provider, Constant Contact. All emails we send through Constant Contact include the option to safely unsubscribe from all future emails through Constant Contact.

Your Rights to Your Data

Any data we collect on you is your property.

You can view your data at any time. Any data we have for you is stored in your account that you can access by logging in here. If you have never uploaded an exhibit to SDN, the information we store is the contact information you provided. If you have created an account, there is additional information about your exhibits. If you have created a personal profile page, there is additional biographical information that you have entered.

You can edit your data at any time. Any personal data we store can be edited at any time by you.

You can delete your data at any time. You can delete your SDN exhibits or any individual piece of personal data through your account. If you would like to entirely delete your SDN account and all data associated with you and your account, please contact us at info@socialdocumentary.net.

Data portability: SDN is working on tools to allow you to download your information, including your photographs and personal data. We will inform our members when these tools are available.

How We Collect Data

We collect personal information in a number of ways, including: becoming a member of SDN, creating exhibits, and online transactions. We pledge to maintain high security standards over your data and always strive to protect it from unsolicited usage and abuse.

Third Party Services and Data Security

SDN uses two primary third-party services to aid in our operations and delivery of services.

Constant Contact: Constant Contact is a trusted global leader in email marketing. We uses Constant Contact to send our email Spotlight and all other email communications to members and other contacts. Constant Contact adheres to the highest level of data and internet security. SDN does not use Constant Contact’s tools to collect data. Rather we collect your data directly through the SDN website, and we export that data to Constant Contact when we send email. 2Checkout: When uploading images to the site and paying for this service, Personal Information about you will be collected by a third party financial transaction service, 2Checkout, to complete the transaction. Information Collected and Usage

When you apply to become a member of SDN, we ask you for several types of information. Personal Information includes your name, e-mail address, and city and country of residence, phone number, interest in SDN.

In light of the private nature of this information, we pledge to hold it in strict confidence and not divulge it to third parties, except those used by SDN to provide services to us or our users, and we require such third parties to abide by the standards of this Privacy Policy. Other than as stated above, we do not sell, rent or share personal information with any third party.

The types of information we collect, and why, are summarized below:

Use of Cookies and IP addresses:

Cookies are small pieces of information that are stored by your browser on your computer's hard drive. Most web browsers automatically accept cookies, but if you prefer, you can edit your browser options to block them in the future. If you do decide to block cookies, though, aspects of the site may not function properly. An IP Address is a unique number that identifies every computer on the Internet. Each time you connect to the Internet your machine is assigned an IP address. An IP address is a number that identifies each sender or receiver of information that is sent across the Internet. The IP address does not identify you personally.

We use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer the site. The site uses cookies to keep track of your shopping cart. We also use cookies to maintain user session identity, and to store your Personal Identification and password locally for ease of access.

Site Registration

To apply for membership to SDN, as a first step in creating exhibits, you will need to log-in and complete our application form. This form includes basic demographic data, including your name, email address, city and country of residence. Your email address is not shared with third parties except with Constant Contact, as referenced above, to send you emails.

Once you have registered with us, you will receive a Login Identification that will be used to verify that you have the rights to access and modify your account information and to create and edit your exhibits. We will also use information provided to us during registration, as well as your activities while visiting the site, to tailor the technical delivery of content to you.

E-mail Privacy

SDN requires that all members provide a valid e-mail address when registering with the site. This e-mail address is necessary for you to take full advantage of the benefits provided by SDN, including e-mail updates.

Your e-mail address will only be used by SDN. We do not sell, rent or share e-mail addresses with any third-party vendors.

Opting Out of Receiving E-mails

All E-mail newsletter mailings from SDN will provide the option to opt out of future newsletter mailings but not the option to opt out of emails that are particular to your account sent from the SDN website. If you opt out of future newsletter mailing, you may miss important announcements from SDN about Site upgrades and changes.

If you would like to stop receiving emails generated directly through the SDN website about your live or expired exhibits, login to your account and delete the exhibit you would like to stop receiving emails about.

Legal Duty to Disclose

SDN will adhere to requirements for disclosure imposed by law or under a subpoena or warrant.

Public Forums

The Site may make blogs, public chat rooms, forums, message boards, and/or news groups available to you from time to time. Please remember that any information that is disclosed in these areas becomes public information and you should exercise caution when deciding to disclose any Personal Information.
