Following my formal education in film and photography at the Philadelphia College of Art (now University of the Arts ) I pursued my first big story, the American Bicentennial. A year in the historic park produced a photographic portfolio purchased by the Library of Congress and the Philadelphia Free Library. I continued to hone my skills at newspapers and magazines.
In the 1990's I photographed for a humanitarian relief organization documenting its work in war zones and disaster areas around the world.
Early into this century I was lucky enough to receive a grant from the foundation of the distinguished photographer Robert Frank. Through what is now decades, I have continued a body of work about American society and culture.
