Biography

AnitaM is a documentary and travel photographer with an architectural and fine arts background. Originally from Germany, she lives in New York City where she spends her time capturing demolitions of New York City's landmarks if she is not traveling around the world to photograph people and their surroundings.

During 2009 she documented a personal project that covered a stem cell transplant from the perspective of a caretaker. She was both, the photographer and main caretaker of the patient, which made it especially difficult to find the strength to record the daily fight against blood cancer and remain unbiased towards the unfolding story.

After completing the transplant project, she reached a turning point and decided to shift her focus to social documentary. Her goal is to bring awareness to social issues around the globe and use photography as a tool to communicate the needs of others in order to create a better tomorrow.
