Chris Drew faces trial for Class 1 Felony Eavesdropping. after he sold art for $1 on State Street, Chicago. Chris Drew, artist, Executive Director of the Uptown Multicultural Arts Center (UM-CAC) in Chicago, and First Amendment rights advocate for free speech, faced trial for class 1 felony eavesdropping which carries 4-15 years if convicted for audio recording his own arrest. A law in Illinois,since the 1960s. and similar to laws in only a few other states which makes this illegal to audio record police in public.
Chris was selling art for $1 on State Street in Chicago. His case went from 2009 - 2012 with 2 pro bono attorneys, first Mark Wienberg then Joshua Kutnick.
March 7, 2012 Judge Sachs declared the Illinois Eavesdropping Law Unconstitutional with a 12 page decision, stating "wholly innocent conduct," Chris won, and Joshua Kutnick won against the State Attorney, Anita Alvarez
May 2012 Chris Drew died. (1950-2012) RIP

Chris Drew's case has attracted worldwide media attention. He has 2 pro bono attorneys to defend his civil rights, as well as backing from the ACLU.
I was making a documentary on Chris, photo and video for over 3 years,and captured his arrest. My videos were entered as evidence, and shown in court, and reviewed by the judge. It was a journey wrought with a rollercoaster of emotions. He made a difference and his spirit and legacy lives on.
