Leadership in Health: Strengthening the Ethiopia Health System

The public health sector of Ethiopia has made extraordinary strides in its fight against HIV/AIDS. With support from USAID and Management Sciences for Health, health officials from the community to the national level underwent intensive management and leadership training in order to increase HIV counseling and testing services and implement programs designed to prevent transmission of the virus from mother to child. This photo series explores the work of MSH and the Ethiopian public health workers in the Oromia and Amhara regions.
For the past dozen or so years, I have provided communications and photography services for development projects all over the world, yet Ethiopia still managed to surprise me. The warmth, dedication, and drive of the people filled me with a great sense of optimism for the future of a strong and proud nation.
