Title:
Community Health Workers in Togo
Location:
Togo
A weekly counseling session between a mentor and an HIV+ woman.
In West Africa, 225 women die every day while giving birth. The sub region has one of the world’s lowest contraceptive prevalence rates, among the highest total fertility rates, and a high unmet need for family planning. The USAID AWARE II project expanded the use of regionally proven best practices in family planning and reproductive health, HIV & AIDS, and maternal, neonatal and child health throughout West Africa. This exhibit shares the couple of days I spent in Togo at the launching of 250 Community Health Workers and visiting Civil Society Organizations supported by the project.
