Danson is propped up for a photo by his father on August 14, 2012 in Maai Mahiu, Kenya.
Danson, 15, is the son of Teresia Nyokabi, 36 he is unable to walk or talk but now he manages to communicate with a elastic band and a straw around his head. He has been attending the CTC International school for special needs since 2009. Danson is 100% mentally aware just unable to control his body. In visiting Danson at home, it became apparent that despite his disability he is a important part of the family dynamic. Teresia works for CTC at their income generating L.I.F.E. line product center. The L.I.F.E. line now is sold in every Whole Foods in the US. Teresia has seen Danson begin to come home and be proud of his work, and he can now read. She hopes one day he can go to primary and secondary school and eventually get a job because she knows he is smart. Danson shows how even in the worst of situations people remain resilient and beautiful.

Danson

After watching Danson progress throughout the past 3 years in Maai Mahiu I feel personally connected to him and I must say his spirt and joy is contagious.
