Mai's final therapy session is in few days. It makes her even more anxious than usual. When she enters this state, her ex-boyfriend calls her "The Imposter." This is a side of herself she keeps hidden from all but her closest loved ones.
Mai, a 45 years old divorcee and mother of two, has lived in London for 21 years. In 2008 she was diagnosed with borderline personality disorder (BPD.) Approximately 75% of people diagnosed with this disorder are women. BPD has received little attention or funding from the national healthcare system. Those who are diagnosed are often stigmatized. "I'm a human being before all," says Mai, who views her illness with frank honesty. Over the years, Mai has found creative ways to cope with her ever-present attraction to death, some of which seems to walk the fine line of a razor.
