"The Moldovan North: along-shore the Dniester river" it’s a kind of photo story, in which I wanted to show activity and everyday way of life of ordinary people living in the North of the country. It is situated near to the main waterway of the region – the river Dniester.
The river here is not just a border between two countries - Moldova and Ukraine, but it’s also a border of intersection of cultures, traditions, languages and mentalities.
This is the place where Moldovan, Ukrainian, Russian and many other nations (and nationalities) live side by side, forming an unusual and original ethnic layer.
Photo story encloses several settlements: from Naslavchi (the northernmost spot of Moldavia) to the town Soroka. And also this photo story is the beginning of a large project on the Dniester and on the people living on its banks.
