"They are dirty and noisy," says Sanrine, 11, about the slums she lives in, and when asked what she'd like to be when she grows up, she replied, "a doctor."
Most slum children don't make it past 8th grade at school, if they attend school at all.
Apnalaya is an NGO working within the slums of Mumbai, among the many things they help to provide is a bridge in education, helping those who have not been to school before to read and write enabling them to attend a government school.
